Does Christian Clothing Influence How We Act?
We’ve all heard the saying, "the clothes make the man." I can’t say I fully agree with it. I’d tweak it a bit: "The clothes—or should I say Christian clothing—can influence how a man or woman feels, acts, and even how others perceive and react to you."
As someone who grew up an introvert, I’ve often struggled in social settings. Sometimes I can fake confidence, but most of the time, social situations make me uncomfortable. A few years back, my company hosted a New Year’s Eve party, and for some reason, I decided to rent a bright red zoot suit. Yes, you read that right—a bright red zoot suit!
I was nervous walking into the party. But as soon as I entered, the reactions from both people I knew and complete strangers changed everything. Suddenly, I was confident, striking up conversations with ease. The attention wasn’t all positive, of course, but the transformation in my behavior was undeniable.
Now, fast forward to today with my Christian clothing brand, Forgiven Crew. Whether it’s a sticker on my car or a logo on my hat or shirt, the reactions are often surprising. Most of the responses are positive, but there have been a few moments where I’ve been yelled at, and people have cursed at my faith.
Here’s the thing: wearing Christian clothing or displaying a Forgiven Crew sticker makes you more aware of how you carry yourself. It turns you into a visible representative of Christ, which naturally influences your actions. Whether I’m out walking around or driving with that sticker on my car, I’m more conscious of my behavior.
Now, don’t get me wrong—I’m far from perfect. A bit of road rage sneaks in when someone cuts me off, but then I glance at my rearview mirror and see that Forgiven Crew sticker. It reminds me that wearing Christian clothing or displaying my faith on my car carries a responsibility. It keeps me grounded and reminds me to reflect Christ in my actions.
